Walking
From the city center, head towards the historic Praça de Oliveira. Once there, you should see the iconic Igreja de São Miguel do Castelo. From this church, walk down the hill towards the river. When you reach the riverbank, turn left and continue walking along the scenic waterfront. After about 15 minutes of walking, you will arrive at the Ribeira area, where the Escadas do Codeçal is located. Look for the stairs that lead down towards the river; these are the Escadas do Codeçal.
Public Transport
Start at the Guimarães bus station, which is located near the city center. Take the bus that heads towards Porto. The journey will take about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Porto's main bus terminal, head towards the metro station and take Line D (the yellow line) towards Santo Ovidio. Get off at the São Bento station. From there, follow the signs to the exit and walk towards the river, which should take about 10 minutes. Once at the river, turn left and follow the waterfront until you reach the Escadas do Codeçal.
