Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from the historic center of Guimarães, head towards the main square, Praça de São Tiago. From there, take Rua de Santo António, which leads you directly to the city park, Parque da Cidade. As you walk through the park, enjoy the lush greenery and pathways. Once you exit the park, continue straight on Rua de São Gonçalo until you reach the junction with Avenida de Dom João IV. Turn left onto Avenida de Dom João IV and proceed until you see the signs for Ponte Medieval, which is about a 15-minute walk from the city center.

• Public Transport

  For a more relaxed journey, you can take a local bus from the city center. Head to the nearest bus stop at Praça de S. Tiago and catch bus number 4 or 5, which will take you closer to the Ponte Medieval. You should get off at the stop named 'Ponte de São Gonçalo'. From the bus stop, it's a short 5-minute walk to the bridge. Just follow the signs to Ponte Medieval, and you'll be there in no time.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from one of the rental spots in the city center. Once you have your bike, head towards Avenida de Dom João IV, which is a straightforward route. Cycle along the avenue, enjoying the views as you go. After about 10-15 minutes, you will see the signs for Ponte Medieval. There are bike racks available near the bridge for you to secure your bicycle while you explore the area.
