Getting There

Walking
If you are near the historic center of Guimarães, start at Praça de São Tiago. From the square, head south towards Rua de São Miguel. Continue straight until you reach the junction with Rua da Rainha. Turn left onto Rua da Rainha. Walk along this road until you reach the end, where it meets with Avenida de Alberto Sampaio. Turn right. Follow Avenida de Alberto Sampaio until you see the historical walls of Guimarães. Porta do Burgo will be on your left, near the entrance of the castle area.

If you're starting from Guimarães train station, take bus number 1 or 2 towards the city center. Get off at the stop 'Centro Histórico'. From there, walk towards Praça de São Tiago, which is about a 10-minute walk. Once at Praça de São Tiago, follow the previous walking directions to reach Porta do Burgo.
