Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start by entering the A2 highway from your current location in Lisbon Coast. Follow the signs for Lisbon and continue on the A2 until you reach the Alcântara area. Take the exit toward the 25 de Abril Bridge (Ponte 25 de Abril) and cross the bridge. Once you are on the other side, follow the signs for 'Belém'. This will lead you onto the Avenida da Índia. After about 3 kilometers, turn right onto the Praça do Império. Jerónimos Monastery will be on your left. Note that parking can be challenging, so look for public parking options nearby.

• Public Transport - Tram

  For a scenic route, take Tram 15 from Praça da Figueira or Cais do Sodré in central Lisbon. Stay on the tram until you reach the Belém stop. From there, it’s a short walk to Jerónimos Monastery. Follow the signs towards the monastery, which is about a 10-minute walk. The tram costs approximately €3, and you can purchase a ticket at the tram station.

• Public Transport - Train

  You can also take a train from Cais do Sodré station. Board a train heading to Cascais and get off at the Belém station. From the station, it’s a 15-minute walk to Jerónimos Monastery. Exit the station and head towards the river, then follow the signs to the monastery. The train fare is around €2.50.

• Public Transport - Bus

  If you prefer the bus, you can take the 727 or 28 bus from various locations in central Lisbon. Both buses stop near Jerónimos Monastery. Check the bus schedules and routes on the Carris website for the most accurate information. The bus fare is around €1.50, which can be paid directly to the driver.
