Elevador da Bica: Lisbon's Iconic Funicular

Getting There

• Public Transport - Metro

  Start your journey at any metro station in Lisbon. If you're near the city center, head to 'Baixa-Chiado' station on the Blue or Green Line. From there, take the exit towards Rua do Carmo. After exiting the station, walk straight until you reach the 'Praça do Rossio' square.

• Walking from Praça do Rossio

  From Praça do Rossio, head northwest towards Rua da Betesga. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with Rua do Ouro. Turn right onto Rua do Ouro, then take the first left onto Rua da Conceição. Walk straight until you reach Rua de São Paulo, where you will see the 'Bica' funicular.

• Walking to ELEVADOR da BICA

  Follow Rua de São Paulo down to the funicular station. Here, you will see ELEVADOR da BICA at R. da Bica de Duarte Belo 2. The funicular will take you up the steep hill, providing great views of the city along the way.

• Bus

  If you prefer to take a bus, you can catch bus lines 28 or 25 from any central location towards 'Bica'. Get off at the stop 'Bica'. Walk down the street, and you will find ELEVADOR da BICA at R. da Bica de Duarte Belo 2.

• Tram

  Alternatively, you can take the famous Tram 28, which passes through many of Lisbon's iconic neighborhoods. Board the tram at any stop along its route and disembark at the 'Calhariz' stop. From there, it's a short walk down to R. da Bica de Duarte Belo, where you will find ELEVADOR da BICA.
