Walking
Start your journey at Chiado, a vibrant neighborhood in Lisbon. Head towards Largo do Camões, which is a popular square in Chiado. From there, continue walking down Rua Garrett, a lively street filled with shops and cafes. As you walk, keep an eye out for the Elevador de Santa Justa, a famous lift on your right. Once you reach the end of Rua Garrett, turn left onto Rua do Ouro. Follow this street until you arrive at Praça do Comércio, a large square facing the Tagus River. From Praça do Comércio, the Arco da Rua Augusta is directly in front of you, at the northern end of the square. You can walk under the arch to access Rua Augusta.
Public Transport – Tram
If you prefer to take a tram, head to the nearest tram stop at Rua do Carmo in Chiado. Board Tram 28, which is a popular route among tourists. Enjoy the scenic ride as the tram winds through the historic streets of Lisbon. Get off at the stop 'Praça do Comércio'. From the tram stop, walk towards the square, and you will see the Arco da Rua Augusta directly in front of you. Note that the tram fare is around €3.00, and you can purchase tickets at the stop or on the tram.
Metro
You can also take the metro to reach the area. From Chiado, walk to the nearest metro station at Baixa-Chiado. Take the Blue Line towards Santa Apolónia and get off at the 'Baixa-Chiado' stop. Once you exit the station, head towards Rua do Comércio, and walk straight until you reach Praça do Comércio, where you will see the Arco da Rua Augusta. The metro fare is approximately €1.50, and tickets can be purchased at the station.
