Getting There

• Walking

  If you are already in the Chiado area, walking is the most convenient way to reach Praça Luís de Camões. Start by heading towards Rua Garrett, a popular street in Chiado. Walk straight until you reach the intersection with Rua do Carmo. Turn left onto Rua do Carmo and continue walking until you see the entrance of the Carmo Convent on your right. From there, continue straight until you reach the square, which is just a short walk away. The Praça Luís de Camões is a lively square surrounded by beautiful architecture, and you will see the large monument dedicated to the poet Luís de Camões at its center.

• Metro

  If you are further away in Lisbon, you can take the Metro to reach Chiado. The closest Metro station is Baixa-Chiado (Blue and Green Lines). Once you exit the station, walk towards Rua do Carmo. From there, follow the previous walking directions to Praça Luís de Camões. Note that the Metro fare is approximately €1.50, and you can purchase tickets at the machines located in the station.

• Tram

  You can also take Tram 28, a famous tram line that passes through many historic parts of Lisbon. Board the tram at any stop along the route and ride until you reach the stop at 'Cç. da Estrela'. From there, walk towards the direction of Rua da Misericórdia, which leads you to Chiado. Continue walking until you reach Praça Luís de Camões. The tram fare is about €3.00, which you can pay directly to the driver.

• Bus

  If you prefer taking a bus, look for bus lines that pass through Chiado. Line 758 stops at 'Cç. da Estrela'. After disembarking, walk towards Rua da Misericórdia and then follow the walking directions mentioned earlier to reach Praça Luís de Camões. The bus fare is also around €1.50, payable upon boarding.
