Walking
If you are in Chiado, begin at the Praça Luís de Camões, which is a central square in the Chiado neighborhood. Head north towards Rua da Misericórdia. Continue straight on Rua da Misericórdia until you reach the intersection with Rua do Carmo. Turn left onto Rua do Carmo. Walk down this street, and you will soon see the Carmo Convent on your right at Largo do Carmo 27.
Funicular
From Chiado, you can take the famous Elevador da Glória funicular. Start at the Praça dos Restauradores, which is a short walk from Chiado. Board the funicular towards the top of the hill. Get off at the stop called 'Glória.' From there, walk uphill on Rua da Glória until you reach Largo do Carmo. The Carmo Convent will be on your left. Note that the funicular costs around €3.
Metro and Walking
If you prefer using public transport, you can take the Metro from the nearest station, Baixa-Chiado (Blue Line). Board the train towards Santa Apolónia and get off at the next stop, Rossio. Exit the station and walk towards the Rossio square. From Rossio, head towards Rua 1º de Dezembro and continue straight. When you reach the intersection with Rua do Carmo, turn right, and you will find Carmo Convent at Largo do Carmo 27.
