Car
If you are starting from Funchal, take the VR1 highway heading northeast towards Machico. Continue on the VR1 for about 15 km until you reach exit 26 towards Machico/Porto da Cruz. Merge onto ER101 and follow the signs for ER209. Continue on ER209 for about 10 km. Levada dos Cedros will be on your left, marked by a sign for the hiking area.
Public Transportation
From Funchal, take the bus number 138 towards Machico. The bus departs from the main bus station in Funchal. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the Machico stop. From there, you can either walk to ER209, which is about a 20-minute walk, or take a taxi for a quicker option. If you choose to walk, head northeast on Rua da Alegria, then turn left onto Rua do Comércio, which will lead you to ER209. Continue on ER209 for about 5 km, and you will reach Levada dos Cedros.
