If you are driving, start from Funchal city center. Take the main road (VR1) heading east towards Machico. Continue on VR1 for about 12 km. Take exit 22 towards Funchal Centro/Monte. Merge onto Avenida do Mar e das Comunidades Madeirenses and follow the signs for Rua da Levada de St. Luzia. Continue on Rua da Levada de St. Luzia for approximately 1.5 km until you reach the Miradouro do Damião. There is no entry fee for the viewpoint itself, but be mindful of parking regulations as fines may apply.

To reach Miradouro do Damião using public transport, first take the local bus (Bus number 1 or 2) from Funchal city center towards Monte. The trip will take about 30 minutes. Get off at the stop 'Monte' and then transfer to bus number 48, which goes towards Funchal. After about 10 minutes, alight at the 'Levada de St. Luzia' stop. From here, it is a short 10-minute walk to the Miradouro do Damião. Keep in mind, a single bus ticket costs around €1.95, and you may want to purchase a return ticket.
