Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, head towards Olhão, the closest city to the Ria Formosa ecovia extension. From the center of Olhão, drive towards Avenida da República and continue onto the N125 road. Follow the signs for Ria Formosa Natural Park. Once you reach the park area, look for parking options near the promenade area where the ecovia extension begins. There may be small parking fees depending on the location, so prepare some coins or a card for payment.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Ria Formosa ecovia extension via public transportation, take a train from Faro to Olhão. The train departs frequently, and the journey takes about 15 minutes. Once you arrive at Olhão train station, exit and walk towards the waterfront, following signs for the Ria Formosa Natural Park. You can also take bus number 12 or 14 from Faro to Olhão. After reaching the center of Olhão, follow the signs to the promenade area where the ecovia starts. Be prepared for a short walk (approximately 10-15 minutes) from the bus or train station to the ecovia.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer a more active approach, you can rent a bicycle in Olhão. Several rental shops are located near the waterfront. Once you have your bike, head towards the Avenida da República, and follow the signs to the Ria Formosa ecovia extension. The route is well-marked, and riding along the ecovia allows you to take in the stunning views of the natural park. Make sure to wear a helmet and bring water, especially during the warmer months.

• Walking

  If you are already within Ria Formosa Natural Park, you can simply walk to the ecovia extension. Look for signs directing you towards the promenade. The extension is accessible from various points within the park, and walking allows you to fully appreciate the beauty of the surroundings.
