Getting There

Walking
From the center of Luquillo, head towards Route 3 (PR-3) and walk east. Continue along the sidewalk until you reach the roundabout at the entrance of the El Yunque National Forest. Cross the roundabout carefully and take the exit onto Route 988 (PR-988). Continue walking along PR-988 for approximately 2.5 miles. You will notice the lush greenery and hear the sounds of nature. Stay on the lookout for signs indicating Puente Roto. As you approach, you'll see a small parking area to your right, which is also the entrance to the Puente Roto swimming area. Follow the trail down towards the river to reach the famous swimming hole.

Public Transportation
From Luquillo, you can take the public car service (carro público) to Río Grande. Head to the main road (Route 3) and flag down a carro público, which are small shared taxis. Inform the driver you want to go to Río Grande, and they will drop you off near the intersection of Route 988. Once you get off, walk along Route 988 for about 1.5 miles. Keep an eye out for the signs leading to Puente Roto. The area is marked, and you will see a small access path leading down to the river.

If you prefer to bike, rent a bicycle in Luquillo and head towards Route 3 (PR-3). Ride east along the road until you reach the roundabout for El Yunque National Forest. Carefully navigate the roundabout and take the exit onto Route 988 (PR-988). Continue biking for approximately 2.5 miles. The route is mostly flat, and you will enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding landscape. Look for signage directing you to Puente Roto. When you arrive, park your bike at the designated area and walk down to the swimming hole.
