Travel Guide to Woody Hill Management Area

Getting There

• Car

  From the main entrance of Burlingame State Park, head southwest on Burlingame State Park Rd. Continue for approximately 2 miles until you reach the intersection with Route 1. Turn right onto Route 1 North. Drive for about 1.5 miles, then take the exit toward Route 91/Westerly. Merge onto Route 91 and continue for about 3 miles. Turn left onto Woody Hill Rd. The Woody Hill Management Area entrance will be on your right after about 0.5 miles. Parking is available on-site.

• Public Transportation

  If you're relying on public transportation, you can take a bus from the nearest city, Westerly. Catch the RIPTA bus #66 towards Westerly. Once you arrive at the Westerly Bus Terminal, transfer to the RIPTA bus #67, which heads towards Charlestown. Request to get off at the stop nearest to Woody Hill Rd. From there, you may need to walk approximately 0.5 miles to the Woody Hill Management Area entrance. Be sure to check the latest bus schedules for exact timing and any potential transfers.

• Biking

  For those who prefer biking, you can start from the Burlingame State Park campgrounds. Take the scenic park roads towards Route 1. Once you reach the intersection with Route 1, safely navigate the bike lanes and head north for about 1.5 miles. Turn onto Route 91 and bike for about 3 miles until you turn left onto Woody Hill Rd. Follow Woody Hill Rd until you reach the Woody Hill Management Area entrance. Make sure to wear a helmet and check your bike for safety before setting out.
