Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving to Rough Point from anywhere in Washington County, head towards Route 1 (Post Road). From Route 1, take the exit for RI-138 East towards Newport. Continue on RI-138, which will eventually lead you onto the Newport Bridge. After crossing the bridge, follow the signs to Newport. Once in Newport, continue on America's Cup Avenue until you reach Bellevue Avenue. Turn left onto Bellevue Avenue, and Rough Point will be on your right at 680 Bellevue Ave. Look for the museum entrance and parking area.

    To reach Rough Point via public transportation, start by taking the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) bus. You can catch the bus from various locations in Washington County; check the RIPTA schedule for the closest bus stop. Take the bus to the Newport Gateway Center. From there, transfer to the Newport Shuttle (Route 67) that goes along Bellevue Avenue. Stay on the shuttle until you reach the stop closest to 680 Bellevue Ave. Rough Point will be a short walk from the shuttle stop.
