Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Sinaia, which is a popular base for visiting the Bucegi Mountains. From Sinaia, take the DN1 road towards Bucharest and then turn onto DN71 towards Târgoviște. After about 5 km, you will see signs for the Bucegi Natural Park and the cable car station at Bușteni. Park your car at the designated parking areas near the cable car station. The cable car ride will take you up to the Bucegi Plateau (Platoul Bucegi) in about 10 minutes. The cost for the round-trip ticket for the cable car is approximately 70 RON for adults and 35 RON for children.
Public Transportation
To reach Platoul Bucegi using public transportation, take a train or bus to Bușteni from Bucharest or Brașov. The train journey from Bucharest to Bușteni takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive at Bușteni, walk to the cable car station, which is about a 15-minute walk from the train station. Purchase your round-trip cable car ticket, which costs approximately 70 RON for adults and 35 RON for children. The cable car will take you directly to the Bucegi Plateau, where you can enjoy the stunning views and hiking opportunities.
Hiking
If you prefer to hike to the Bucegi Plateau, you can start your journey from Bușteni. From the cable car station, you can take several marked hiking trails leading to the plateau. One of the most popular routes is the trail that starts at the cable car station and leads to the Babele area. The hike is moderately challenging and takes about 2 to 3 hours. Ensure you have proper hiking gear, plenty of water, and snacks for the journey.
