    If you are traveling by car within Akagera National Park, start from the park entrance at the Akagera National Park Gate. Follow the main road through the park, which is well-marked. Drive towards the northeastern part of the park, keeping an eye out for wildlife. Continue on the road until you reach the junction near the Rwandan border with Tanzania. At the junction, turn left and follow the road signs leading to Rusumo Falls. The drive from the park entrance to the falls takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on road conditions and wildlife sightings along the way. Be mindful of speed limits and wildlife crossing.

  • Public Transportation

    If you prefer to use public transportation, you will need to first get to the nearest town, which is Kayonza. From Akagera National Park, you can take a local taxi or a bus to Kayonza. This may take around 1 to 1.5 hours. Once in Kayonza, you can catch a bus or a shared taxi heading towards Rusumo. Make sure to confirm with the driver that they are going to Rusumo Falls. The bus ride from Kayonza to Rusumo should take about 30 to 45 minutes. Be prepared for limited schedules, so it’s advisable to check the timings in advance.
