Getting There

Walking
Start your journey from the center of Butare, near the National Museum of Rwanda. Head south on Avenue de l’Indépendance until you reach the intersection with Rue de l’Unité. Turn left onto Rue de l’Unité and continue walking for about 1 kilometer until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Avenue du 1er Novembre. Walk straight for another 1.5 kilometers until you see signs for Ruhashya. Follow the signs and take a right turn onto a smaller path leading towards the bamboo forest. Continue walking for approximately 500 meters, and you will find the ISAR BAMBOO Forest on your left.

Bicycle
If you have access to a bicycle, rent one from a local shop in Butare. Start from the National Museum of Rwanda and head south on Avenue de l’Indépendance. After about 1 kilometer, turn left onto Rue de l’Unité. Cycle along this road for approximately 1 kilometer until you reach the roundabout. Take the second exit onto Avenue du 1er Novembre and continue cycling straight for about 1.5 kilometers. Look for signs to Ruhashya, and take a right turn onto a smaller road. The ISAR BAMBOO Forest will be about 500 meters down this path on your left.
