Getting There

Walking

Start from the center of Butare, near the National Museum. Head southwest on Avenue de la République towards Avenue de la Paix. Continue straight until you reach the junction with Avenue de l'Indépendance. Turn right onto Avenue de l'Indépendance and walk straight for about 1.2 kilometers. You will pass by local shops and cafes. Keep an eye out for signs that lead to Ruhashya. At the next major junction, take a left onto the road that leads to Ruhashya. After approximately 500 meters, you will see signs directing you to RUGARAMA, which is about 300 meters further on this road. The park will be on your right side.
Bicycle

Rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Butare. Begin your ride from the National Museum and head southwest on Avenue de la République. After about 1 kilometer, turn right onto Avenue de l'Indépendance. Continue riding for about 1.2 kilometers until you reach the junction leading to Ruhashya. Take a left here and follow the road for another 500 meters. Look for signs that indicate RUGARAMA, which will be on your right side approximately 300 meters ahead.
Public Transport (Moto-taxi)

Find a moto-taxi stand in the center of Butare, near the National Museum. Inform the driver that you would like to go to RUGARAMA in Ruhashya. The ride should take approximately 15 minutes. The driver will take you directly to the entrance of RUGARAMA. Ensure that you agree on the fare before starting your journey.
