Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the Butare Cathedral, head south on Avenue de la Paix. Continue walking straight for about 1 km until you reach the intersection with Rukari Road. Turn left onto Rukari Road and continue walking for another 1 km. You will see the Nyanza bus park on your left. The Rwanda African Art Museum is directly opposite the bus park along Rukari Road.

    If you are near the National Museum of Rwanda, exit the museum and head east towards Avenue de la Paix. Turn right onto Avenue de la Paix and walk for approximately 500 meters. When you reach the intersection with Rukari Road, turn left. The museum will be about 1 km ahead on your right, opposite the Nyanza bus park.

    From the central market in Butare, walk west on Avenue de la Paix for about 1.2 km. When you reach the intersection with Rukari Road, turn right. Continue on Rukari Road for about 800 meters. The Rwanda African Art Museum will be on your left, right across from the Nyanza bus park.
