Walking
From the center of Butare, head south towards the main road (A2). You can ask locals for directions to Nyanza bus park, which is a well-known landmark. Once you reach the bus park, you should be facing towards Rukari road. The Rwanda African Art Museum is located directly opposite the Nyanza bus park. It should take about 20-30 minutes to walk from the center of Butare to the museum.
Motorbike Taxi (Boda Boda)
If you're looking for a quicker way to get to the Rwanda African Art Museum, consider taking a motorbike taxi, known locally as Boda Boda. From your current location in Butare, flag down a Boda Boda and tell the driver 'Rukari road opposite the Nyanza bus park'. The ride should take about 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. Make sure to negotiate the fare before you start the journey.
Public Transport (Minibus)
You can take a minibus from Butare to Nyanza. Head to the minibus station in Butare and look for a bus heading towards Nyanza. Once you arrive at the Nyanza bus stop, exit the minibus and walk towards the Nyanza bus park. The Rwanda African Art Museum is located directly across the street from the bus park. The entire journey may take around 30-45 minutes including waiting time for the minibus.
