Walking
From the center of Butare, head north on Avenue de la République towards Avenue du 1er Novembre. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Avenue de la Paix. Follow this road for about 1 km until you reach another roundabout. Take the second exit to stay on Avenue de la Paix, and continue for another approximately 2 km. You will pass by local shops and cafes. Once you see signs for the National University of Rwanda on your left, keep walking until you see the Campaign Against Genocide Museum on your right. It is located along RN3, and the museum should be visible from the road.

Bicycle
If you are renting a bike, start from the center of Butare and head north on Avenue de la République. Continue cycling straight to the roundabout, taking the first exit onto Avenue de la Paix. After about 1 km, you will reach another roundabout. Take the second exit to stay on Avenue de la Paix. Cycle for about 2 km, passing various local attractions. Look for the signs directing you to the National University of Rwanda. The museum will be on your right on RN3. Make sure to follow road safety rules while cycling.
