Car
From Cyangugu town center, head southeast on Avenue de la Paix towards Avenue de l'Independence. Continue on this road for approximately 3 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route Nationale 1 (RN1). Turn right onto RN1 and drive for about 20 kilometers. Look for the signs directing you to Bisesero. As you get closer, you will see signs indicating the Bisesero Genocide Memorial. Follow these signs for about 5 kilometers until you reach the memorial, located at R85R+6GR Bisesero, Gishyita.
Public Transportation
To reach the Bisesero Genocide Memorial using public transport, first, find a bus or shared taxi (matatu) from Cyangugu to Kibuye. These vehicles depart regularly from the main bus station in Cyangugu. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes and costs around 500 RWF. Once you arrive in Kibuye, you will need to hire a motorcycle taxi (moto) to take you to the Bisesero Genocide Memorial. This ride will take about 15 minutes and should cost around 1,500 RWF. Ensure to confirm the fare before starting your journey.
