    If you are driving, start in the center of Cyangugu. Head east on Avenue de la Paix and continue straight for about 2 kilometers. After crossing the bridge over the Nyungwe River, turn right onto the road leading towards Colline Ibanda. Follow the signs for IGISHIGISHIGI TRAIL, which is located approximately 5 kilometers from the main road. There is a small parking area at the entrance to the trail.

  • Public Transportation

    From the center of Cyangugu, take a moto-taxi or a shared taxi (called 'taxi-bus') heading towards Colline Ibanda. The fare should be around 500 RWF to 1000 RWF depending on the negotiation. Ask the driver to drop you off at the entrance of the IGISHIGISHIGI TRAIL. The trailhead is about a 10-minute walk from where the taxi will drop you off, so be prepared to walk a bit.

  • Walking

    If you prefer to walk from Cyangugu, head east on Avenue de la Paix and follow the road towards Colline Ibanda. The walk is approximately 7 kilometers and will take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated, as the path may not be well-paved. Keep an eye out for local signs directing you to the IGISHIGISHIGI TRAIL.
