Car
If you are driving from Cyangugu, head southeast on Avenue de la Paix towards Avenue du Commerce. Continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the shores of Lake Kivu at the port area. Look for signs indicating the Nkombo Island ferry. The ferry terminal is located near the main market area. Parking is available at designated spots near the port, but be sure to arrive early as spots can fill up quickly.
Public Transportation
To reach Nkombo Island via public transport, you can take a motorcycle taxi (moto) from anywhere in Cyangugu to the port. Simply tell the driver 'Nkombo Island ferry' and they will take you directly to the ferry terminal at Lake Kivu. The fare should be around 1,000 Rwandan Francs. Once you arrive at the terminal, purchase a ferry ticket to Nkombo Island. The ticket price is approximately 2,000 Rwandan Francs. Ferries run regularly, but it's advisable to check the schedule for the latest departures.
