    If you are in the center of Karongi, start at the main market area. Head south towards the shoreline of Lake Kivu. Continue walking along the lakeside road until you reach the junction with the main road leading out of Karongi. At the junction, turn left onto the main road (Route Nationale 4). Follow this road for about 5 kilometers, enjoying the scenic views of Lake Kivu on your left. You will pass through several small villages along the way. After about 5 kilometers, look for signs indicating the direction to Nyanza. Continue on this road for another 3 kilometers until you reach the entrance of ACOR, located on your right side. If you reach the town of Nyanza, you have gone slightly too far.

  • Bicycle Rental

    For a more enjoyable trip, consider renting a bicycle from one of the local shops in Karongi. Start at the main market area, and head south towards the lakeside. Ride along the lakeside road, which is relatively flat and scenic. Keep following the road until you reach the junction with Route Nationale 4. Turn left onto the main road and cycle for about 5 kilometers, taking in the beautiful views of Lake Kivu and the surrounding countryside. After this stretch, look for signs toward Nyanza and continue for another 3 kilometers. ACOR will be on your right side, just before you reach the town of Nyanza.

    From anywhere in Karongi, find a moto taxi (motorcycle taxi) stop, usually located near the market or main roads. Inform the driver that you want to go to ACOR in Nyanza. The ride typically takes about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. The driver will take you along Route Nationale 4, passing through small villages and scenic views. Once you reach Nyanza, you can ask the driver to drop you off at ACOR, which will be on your right side along the main road. Ensure you confirm the location with the driver before starting your ride.
