Getting there

Walking

From the center of Karongi, head towards the main road that runs along Lake Kivu, following the signs for Gitesi. Walk approximately 1.5 kilometers towards the direction of Gitesi. Along the way, you will pass several local shops and cafes where you can stop for refreshments. Continue straight until you reach the junction at Gitesi. At this junction, you will see a sign pointing towards Jabo. Turn left and continue walking for about 1 kilometer. You will eventually see a local path leading towards Jabo on your right. Follow this path until you arrive at Jabo, marked by X82V+9RQ.

Bicycle

If you have access to a bicycle, start from the center of Karongi and head towards the main road by Lake Kivu, following the signs for Gitesi. This route is approximately 1.5 kilometers. Once you reach the junction at Gitesi, turn left and bike for about another kilometer until you see a local path on your right leading to Jabo. Be cautious of pedestrians and local traffic as you navigate through these areas.

Public Transport

From the center of Karongi, take a moto-taxi (motorcycle taxi) to Gitesi. The drivers are familiar with the area and can drop you off at the junction leading to Jabo. Once you arrive at the junction, you can either walk or ask the driver to take you closer to the local path leading to Jabo. If you walk, it will take about 15 minutes from the junction to reach Jabo.
