Getting There
Bicycle
Start your journey from the center of Karongi. Head southwest on Avenue de la Paix towards Avenue de l'Indépendance. Continue on Avenue de l'Indépendance until you reach the junction with Route Nationale 2 (RN2). Turn right onto RN2 and follow the road along the shore of Lake Kivu. After approximately 5 kilometers, you will reach a sign for Nyungwe Forest Reserve. Follow the signs towards Gisakura. After another 10 kilometers, you will see the entrance to One&Only Nyungwe House on your right.
Walking
From the central market in Karongi, head southwest towards Avenue de la Paix. Follow this road until you reach the junction with Avenue de l'Indépendance. Turn right onto Avenue de l'Indépendance and continue walking. After about 1 kilometer, you will reach Route Nationale 2 (RN2). At this point, you can either catch a local moto-taxi to continue your journey or continue walking along RN2. If you choose to walk, after approximately 5 kilometers, you will see a sign for Nyungwe Forest Reserve. Follow the signs, and after another 10 kilometers, One&Only Nyungwe House will be on your right.
Moto-taxi
From your location in Karongi, request a moto-taxi and ask the driver to take you to One&Only Nyungwe House. They should be familiar with the route. The driver will take you to Avenue de la Paix, then onto Avenue de l'Indépendance, and follow Route Nationale 2 (RN2) towards Gisakura. The journey will take around 30 minutes, and they will drop you at the entrance of One&Only Nyungwe House.
Public Transport
From Karongi, head to the local bus station and find a bus heading towards Nyamasheke. Inform the driver that you want to get off at Gisakura. The bus journey will take about 45 minutes. Once you arrive in Gisakura, you can either walk to One&Only Nyungwe House (approximately 1 kilometer uphill) or arrange for a moto-taxi to take you directly to the resort.
