Getting There

Walking
From the center of Kibuye, head southeast towards the main road (A3). Walk along the lakeside promenade, enjoying the beautiful views of Lake Kivu. Continue walking until you reach the local market area. From the market, follow the signs towards the Kibuye Parish. After passing the parish, take a right onto a dirt path that leads towards the hills. Continue walking for about 30 minutes, and you will see signs directing you to Iliza Kivu Village. The village is located on the hillside, offering stunning views of the lake.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Kibuye. Start at the waterfront and cycle along the lakeside road towards the north. After about 10 minutes, you will reach the Kibuye Parish area. Take a left onto the dirt path leading uphill and keep pedaling for approximately 20 minutes. Watch for signs that indicate you are approaching Iliza Kivu Village. It's a scenic ride that will take you through lush greenery and local farms.

Boat
For a unique experience, consider taking a boat ride from Kibuye to Iliza Kivu Village. Head to the boat dock near the town center and inquire about boat trips. A local fisherman or tour operator can take you across the lake. Once you arrive at the nearest point to the village, you may need to walk a short distance (approximately 15 minutes) uphill to reach Iliza Kivu Village. Ensure you agree on the return trip with the boat operator.
