Getting There

Walking
Start at the Muhanga town center, near the main market. From there, head south on Avenue de la Réunion. Continue straight for about 500 meters until you reach a fork in the road. Take the left fork onto Avenue du 1er Novembre. Walk for approximately 1 kilometer until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Route Nationale 1 (RN1) heading east. Continue along RN1 for about 3 kilometers, keeping an eye out for the signs to Muhanga Dam. As you approach the dam, you'll see a dirt path on your right leading towards the lake. Follow this path until you reach Kucyinamba-Muhanga, located right by the dam.

Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Muhanga town center. Start from the main market and head south on Avenue de la Réunion. Continue straight for about 500 meters until you reach a fork in the road. Take the left fork onto Avenue du 1er Novembre. Cycle for approximately 1 kilometer until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Route Nationale 1 (RN1) heading east. Continue cycling along RN1 for about 3 kilometers, watching for signs directing you to Muhanga Dam. As you get closer, there will be a dirt path on your right leading towards the dam. Follow this path, and you will arrive at Kucyinamba-Muhanga, right next to the dam.

Public Transport
From the Muhanga bus station, take a moto-taxi or a bike taxi (known as 'boda-boda') to the Muhanga Dam area. Make sure to tell the driver you want to go to Kucyinamba-Muhanga. The trip should take about 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. The driver will drop you off near the entrance to the dam area, from where you can walk to the lake itself, which is where Kucyinamba-Muhanga is located.
