Walking
Start at the Nyamata Genocide Memorial Centre located in the center of Nyamata town. From there, head east on Avenue de la Victoire for about 500 meters until you reach the intersection with Avenue du 1er Novembre. Turn left onto Avenue du 1er Novembre and walk for another 300 meters. You will pass by local shops and small eateries along the way. At the next major intersection, turn right onto the road heading towards Gikongoro (look for signs indicating Gikongoro). Continue walking straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the turn-off to Murambi. The turn-off will be marked with a sign for the Murambi Genocide Memorial Centre. Follow the dirt path for about 500 meters until you see the entrance to the memorial on your right.
Bicycle
If you have access to a bicycle, start at the Nyamata Genocide Memorial Centre in Nyamata. Head east on Avenue de la Victoire for approximately 500 meters. Turn left onto Avenue du 1er Novembre and continue for another 300 meters. At the major intersection, turn right onto the road towards Gikongoro. This route will take you through a scenic area. Continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers. Watch for a sign indicating the turn-off for Murambi Genocide Memorial Centre. Once you reach the turn-off, take the dirt path that leads for about 500 meters until you arrive at the memorial entrance on your right.
Public Transport
Begin your journey at the Nyamata bus station. Look for a bus or shared taxi heading towards Gikongoro. The fare is usually affordable, and the ride takes about 30-45 minutes depending on traffic. Ask the driver to drop you off at the Murambi turn-off. Once you get off, walk along the dirt path for about 500 meters until you reach the entrance of the Murambi Genocide Memorial Centre. It’s a good idea to confirm the exact drop-off point with the driver before you leave.
