Walking
If you are in central Freetown, start from the Sierra Leone National Museum located on Siaka Stevens Street. Walk west towards the intersection with Pademba Road. At the intersection, turn left onto Pademba Road and continue walking straight. After about 15 minutes, you will reach the intersection with Campbell Street. Turn right onto Campbell Street and continue until you reach the bus station known as 'Big Market'. From there, you can ask for directions towards Ottos, St John's, as it's a well-known area. Depending on where you are in St John's, it might take an additional 20-30 minutes of walking.
Public Transport (Mini-bus)
From central Freetown, you can take a mini-bus (commonly called 'poda poda') from the central bus station. Look for a bus heading towards 'St John's' or 'Ottos'. The fare is usually minimal, around 1,000 to 5,000 Leones. Once you board, inform the conductor that you are going to Ottos. The journey may take around 30 minutes, depending on traffic. When you arrive in Ottos, ask the driver or conductor to let you know when you have reached your stop.
Bicycle Rental
For an adventurous option, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Freetown. Head towards the waterfront and follow the main road that leads out of the city. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to St John's. The ride should take around 30-40 minutes, depending on your speed and the weather. Make sure to wear a helmet and stay aware of traffic as you navigate the roads.
