Walking
From the center of Port Loko, head south on Main Street towards the river. Continue walking until you reach the main market area. From the market, take the path leading to the riverbank and follow it until you see the footbridge. Cross the footbridge to reach the other side of the river. Once across, turn left and follow the road that runs parallel to the river. This will take you towards the outskirts of town. Keep walking until you reach a junction where you will see signs pointing towards Freetown. Follow the road signs indicating the direction of Freetown, keeping a lookout for local transport options like motorbike taxis, which can take you closer to your destination if needed.
Motorbike Taxi
If you prefer a quicker option, after reaching the market area in Port Loko, look for motorbike taxis (locally known as 'okadas'). Negotiate a fare with the rider to take you towards Freetown. The motorbike will take you along the main road heading towards Freetown. Inform the driver that you want to get to Aberdeen beach. They will know the best routes and can drop you off at a suitable point from where you can walk to the beach.
Local Transport
You can also consider using a shared taxi from Port Loko to Freetown. Head to the main taxi stand in Port Loko and find a vehicle heading towards Freetown. Once you arrive in Freetown, ask the driver to drop you near Aberdeen beach or at the closest point. After disembarking, you may need to walk a short distance to reach the beach.
