Bus
From Kamnik, head to the main bus station (Avtobusna postaja Kamnik) located at Tovarna 2. Once there, purchase a ticket to Velenje. Buses to Velenje typically leave every hour. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Upon arrival at Velenje bus station, exit the bus and walk towards Koroška cesta. Turn left and continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers. You will find the Coal Mining Museum of Slovenia located at Koroška cesta 56 on your right.

Make your way to the Kamnik train station (Železniška postaja Kamnik). Please check the train schedule for connections to Velenje. Note that you may need to change trains at a nearby station such as Ljubljana. The total travel time may take around 1 to 1.5 hours depending on connections. Once you arrive at Velenje train station, exit the station and head towards Koroška cesta. Walk straight for about 2 kilometers until you reach Koroška cesta 56, where the Coal Mining Museum of Slovenia is located.

If you're feeling adventurous and would like to explore the area, you can walk from Kamnik to Velenje. The distance is approximately 22 kilometers and will take around 4 to 5 hours. Start at the center of Kamnik and head southeast towards the main road (H4). Follow the road signs directing you towards Velenje. The route will take you through beautiful countryside and small villages. Once you reach Velenje, navigate towards Koroška cesta and find the museum at Koroška cesta 56.
