Bus
From Portorož, head to the main bus station located at Obala 95. Once there, purchase a ticket to Divača at the ticket counter or from a machine. Buses to Divača leave regularly. The journey should take about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at Divača bus station, exit the bus and walk towards the main road. Follow the signs directing you to Skocjan Caves, which is approximately a 30-minute walk from the bus station. You will need to head north on the main road, then take a left onto Matavun road, which will lead you directly to the caves.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from Portorož to Skocjan Caves. You can find taxis available at various points in Portorož or you can ask your hotel to call one for you. The drive should take approximately 25-30 minutes. Just provide the driver with the address: Matavun 12, 6215 Divača, and they will take you directly to the caves.
Walking
Although this option is not recommended due to the distance, if you are feeling adventurous, you can walk from Portorož to Skocjan Caves. Start by heading towards the coastal promenade and follow it north until you reach the main road. Continue walking until you reach the junction leading to Divača. It’s a considerable distance of about 10 km and will take around 2 hours, so make sure you are prepared with water and proper walking shoes.
