Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Underberg, which is a popular base for exploring the Drakensberg region. Head northeast on the R617 road towards Himeville. Follow the R617 for approximately 12 kilometers until you reach the junction with the R56. Turn left onto the R56 and continue for about 8 kilometers until you see the sign for Highmoor Nature Reserve. Turn right onto the dirt road leading into the reserve. Follow this road for about 7 kilometers, and you will reach the parking area for Aasvoelkrans Cave. From the parking area, a short 1-kilometer walk will lead you to the cave.

Public Transportation
If you are relying on public transportation, take a bus or shuttle from major towns like Durban or Pietermaritzburg to Underberg. Once you arrive in Underberg, you can hire a taxi or arrange for a shuttle service to take you to Highmoor Nature Reserve. Inform the driver that you are going to Aasvoelkrans Cave. After reaching the reserve, you will need to walk approximately 1 kilometer from the parking area to the cave. Be sure to check with the shuttle service about costs and availability in advance.

For those who are already in the vicinity of Highmoor Nature Reserve and prefer to hike, you can start your hike from the parking area within the reserve. The trail to Aasvoelkrans Cave is relatively easy and well-marked, taking about 30 minutes to reach the cave.
