Car
If you're driving from downtown Charleston, head northeast on Meeting Street toward Calhoun Street. Continue straight to stay on Meeting Street as it becomes East Bay Street. Follow East Bay Street until you reach the intersection with the Ravenel Bridge. Cross over the bridge, and take the exit for Highway 703 (Sullivan's Island) at the end of the bridge. Continue on Highway 703, which will take you directly to Sullivan's Island. Follow the signs to the beach, and park in one of the public parking areas available near the beach entrance. Note that parking may incur a fee depending on the location and time of the year.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take the CARTA (Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority) bus service. You can catch the CARTA route 40 from various locations in downtown Charleston. Stay on the bus until you reach the stop at the intersection of Ben Sawyer Blvd and Middle Street on Sullivan's Island. From this stop, it's a short walk to the beach. Be sure to check the CARTA schedule for the most up-to-date times and fare information, as fares may vary.

If you're feeling adventurous, consider biking to Sullivan's Island. There are bike paths that connect to the island. You can start from downtown Charleston, and follow the bike route to the Ravenel Bridge. Once across the bridge, continue on the bike-friendly roads towards Sullivan's Island.
