Getting There

• Walking

  If you are in the South of Broad neighborhood, start by locating East Bay Street. Head towards the intersection of East Bay Street and Legare Street. Once you reach this intersection, turn left onto Legare Street. Continue walking along Legare Street for about two blocks until you reach 14 Legare St, where the Simmons-Edwards House is located. The house will be on your right, and you can easily spot it as it is a notable historical landmark.

• Bicycle

  You can rent a bicycle from one of the nearby bike rental shops in the South of Broad area. Once you have your bike, head towards East Bay Street. From there, turn left onto Legare Street. Cycle along Legare Street, and after about two blocks, you will arrive at 14 Legare St. The Simmons-Edwards House will be on your right. Be mindful of pedestrians as you ride through this historic area.

• Public Transportation

  While public transportation options may be limited in the South of Broad area, the CARTA (Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority) bus service does operate in the vicinity. You can catch the bus at the nearest stop on East Bay Street. Check the CARTA schedule for routes that head towards the downtown area. However, it is recommended to get off at the nearest stop and then walk to 14 Legare St, as the bus may not stop directly at the Simmons-Edwards House.
