Car
If you are driving from anywhere in Folly Beach, start by heading northwest on Folly Road (SC-171). Continue for about 10 miles. After around 10 minutes, you'll reach the intersection with East Bay Street (US-17). Turn left onto East Bay Street and follow the signs towards the Charleston Harbor. You will eventually reach the Fort Sumter Visitor Education Center located at 40 East Bay Street. Here, you will need to purchase tickets for a ferry ride to Fort Sumter, which costs approximately $24 for adults and $15 for children. The ferry ride takes about 30 minutes.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take the Folly Beach Shuttle (if available) to the nearest bus stop on Folly Road. From there, you can catch the CARTA (Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority) Route 10 to downtown Charleston. Get off at the stop near 40 East Bay Street. From there, walk to the Fort Sumter Visitor Education Center to purchase your ferry tickets. The ferry costs around $24 for adults and $15 for children, and it will take you to the fort.
