Car
If you are driving, start on Folly Beach's main road, Center Street. Head east towards the beach. At the end of Center Street, turn right onto East Ashley Avenue. Continue straight until you reach 4th Street East. Turn left onto 4th Street East, and you will find the Public Beach Access at the end of the street. There is a parking area nearby, but be aware that parking may incur a fee during peak season, typically around $10 per day.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can catch the CARTA (Charleston Area Regional Transit Authority) bus that services Folly Beach. Take the bus to the Folly Beach terminus and from there, it is a short walk towards Center Street. Once you reach Center Street, follow the directions provided for drivers: head east towards the beach, turn right on East Ashley Avenue, and then turn left onto 4th Street East. The Public Beach Access will be at the end of the street.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, Folly Beach is bike-friendly with designated bike lanes. Start on Center Street and head east towards the beach, then turn onto East Ashley Avenue. Continue until you reach 4th Street East, and turn left. The Public Beach Access is at the end of the street. Be sure to wear a helmet and follow local biking laws. There may be bike racks available for secure parking.
Walking
If you are staying close to Center Street, walking is a great option. Simply stroll down Center Street towards the beach, then turn right onto East Ashley Avenue. After a short walk, turn left onto 4th Street East. The Public Beach Access will be right at the end of the street. This is a pleasant walk that allows you to enjoy the beach atmosphere.
