From North Charleston, locate the nearest bus stop for the CARTA public transportation system. You can catch the Route 10 (Crosstown) bus heading towards downtown Charleston. Ride the bus until you reach the stop at 'Broad St. at Meeting St.'. From there, transfer to the Route 40 (James Island) bus. Stay on the Route 40 bus until you reach the stop at 'Country Club Dr. at McLeod Plantation'. The McLeod Plantation Historic Site will be a short walk from the bus stop.

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the bike-sharing services available in North Charleston. Start by heading south on the Greenway Trail towards the Ashley River. Once you reach the river, follow the trail until you can access the local roads. Continue on Folly Rd. until you arrive at Country Club Dr. Turn left onto Country Club Dr, and the McLeod Plantation Historic Site will be on your right.

If you are close enough to McLeod Plantation, you may choose to walk. Start at any central location in North Charleston and navigate towards the nearest bus stop to catch a bus as described above. If walking directly, head south along local streets towards Ashley River Rd, then follow the road signs directing you towards James Island. Once you reach Country Club Dr., turn left, and continue straight until you reach the plantation site.
