From the Sea Islands area, head towards James Island. If you are on Folly Beach, take Folly Rd (SC-171) north. Continue on Folly Rd, which will merge into Maybank Hwy (SC-700). Follow Maybank Hwy until you reach the intersection with SC-61. Turn right onto SC-61 and continue straight. After approximately 2 miles, turn left onto Fort Johnson Rd. Continue on Fort Johnson Rd for about 1 mile, and you will reach Fort Johnson, located on your left.

If you are using public transportation, start by taking the CARTA bus (Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority) Line 32 from the nearest bus stop to your location in Sea Islands. The bus operates along Maybank Hwy. Disembark at the stop at Maybank Hwy and SC-61 intersection. From there, you can either walk (approximately 2 miles) or use a rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft) to take you directly to Fort Johnson Rd. Please check the CARTA website for the most current bus schedules and fares, which usually cost around $2.00 per ride.
