Getting There

• Public Transit

  Start at the Rapid City Public Library located at 610 Quincy St, Rapid City, SD 57701. From there, walk to the nearest bus stop at the intersection of Quincy St and 7th St. Take the Route 5 bus towards 'Rushmore Mall'. Stay on the bus for about 15 minutes, and get off at the 'S. Dakota School of Mines' stop. From the bus stop, walk east on Kansas City St for about 0.3 miles until you reach the intersection with Skyline Dr. Turn left onto Skyline Dr and continue walking for about 0.5 miles until you reach the Skyline View lookout point. Enjoy the stunning views of Rapid City and the surrounding area!

• Bicycle

  If you prefer to bike, rent a bicycle from a local rental shop in downtown Rapid City. Start your ride from the downtown area and head east on St. Joseph St. Continue straight until you reach Canyon Lake Dr. Turn left onto Canyon Lake Dr and ride north. Follow Canyon Lake Dr as it curves and turns into Skyline Dr. Continue along Skyline Dr for approximately 1.5 miles until you arrive at the Skyline View lookout. Make sure to take breaks to enjoy the scenery along the way!

• Walking

  If you're up for a scenic walk, begin your journey at the downtown area of Rapid City. Head east on Main St until you reach the intersection with 5th St. Turn left onto 5th St and continue until you reach Omaha St. Turn right onto Omaha St and walk for about 0.6 miles. When you reach the intersection with Skyline Dr, turn left and continue walking for about 1 mile uphill until you reach the Skyline View lookout point. This route offers beautiful views of the city as you ascend.
