If you are already in Dong-gu, the easiest way to reach Gwangju Castle is by walking. Start at Dong-gu Office Station (도청역) on Line 1 of the Gwangju Metro. Exit the station and head south on Gwangsan-ro. Continue straight for about 1 km until you reach the intersection with Gwangsan-dong. Turn left onto Gwangsan-dong and walk for approximately 500 meters. Gwangju Castle will be on your right at 12-2 Gwangsan-dong.

To reach Gwangju Castle via public bus, find the nearest bus stop and take either Bus 1 or Bus 11. Board the bus and stay on for about 10-15 minutes. Disembark at the 'Gwangju Castle' bus stop. From there, walk about 200 meters east to reach the castle entrance. The bus fare is approximately 1,200 KRW.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle from one of the bike rental stations in Dong-gu. Head south towards Gwangsan-ro and follow it straight for about 1 km, then turn left onto Gwangsan-dong. Gwangju Castle will be about 500 meters ahead on your right. Ensure to check the bike rental fees, which typically range from 1,000 to 3,000 KRW per hour.
