Getting There

• Public Transport - Bus

  From the city center of Girona, walk to the main bus station, Estació d'Autobusos de Girona, located at Carrer de Pau Casals, 2. You can get there in about 15 minutes on foot from the Plaça de la Independència. Once at the bus station, purchase a ticket for the bus line that goes to Banyoles. Buses to Banyoles typically depart every 30 minutes. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Banyoles bus station, follow the signs to the lake, which is about a 10-15 minute walk from the station. Head northeast on Carrer de la Llibertat, then take a left onto Carrer de la Riera. Continue until you reach the picturesque L'Estany de Banyoles.

• Bicycle Rental

  If you prefer cycling, there are several bike rental shops in Girona, such as Girona Bikes or Rent a Bike Girona. Rent a bicycle and head towards Banyoles via the shared bike paths. The most common route is to follow the path along the River Onyar until you reach the outskirts of the city. Then, follow the signs leading to Banyoles, which will take approximately 30-40 minutes. This is a scenic ride with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

• Walking

  For the more adventurous, you can walk to L'Estany de Banyoles from Girona. Start at the Plaça de la Independència and head towards the Carrer de la Llibertat. You will walk through the beautiful countryside, following a well-marked trail. The total distance is about 20 km, and it will take approximately 4-5 hours. Be sure to bring water and snacks, and enjoy the scenic views along the way!
