Car
If you are driving, head towards the village of Poncebos, which is located approximately 12 km from the town of Arenas de Cabrales. You can follow the N-621 road until you reach the junction for the AS-264. Take the AS-264 towards Poncebos. Once in Poncebos, look for signs indicating the 'Bulnes' funicular railway station. Parking is available near the funicular station, but spaces can be limited during peak tourist seasons, so arrive early.
Funicular
From the funicular station in Poncebos, purchase a ticket for the Bulnes funicular. The ticket price is approximately €22 for a round trip. The funicular ride takes about 15-20 minutes and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains as you ascend to Bulnes. Once you arrive at the top, you will be in Bulnes, from where you can start your hike or explore the village.
Public Transportation
If you are relying on public transportation, take a bus from Arenas de Cabrales to Poncebos. The bus service is operated by ALSA, and the ride takes around 30 minutes. Check the ALSA website or local timetables for the latest schedules and fares, which typically range from €2 to €4 one way. Once in Poncebos, follow the instructions above for the funicular to reach Bulnes.
Hiking
For the more adventurous travelers, there is a hiking trail from Poncebos to Bulnes. This trail is approximately 3.5 km long and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to hike.
