Getting There

  • Bus

    From Anuradhapura, head to the main bus station located near the city center. Look for buses heading to Puttalam or Mannar, as these will pass near Wilpattu National Park. Make sure to ask the bus conductor to drop you off at the Wilpattu entrance. The journey will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive at the entrance, you can either walk or hire a tuk-tuk to reach the visitor center.

    If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a tuk-tuk from your location in Anuradhapura. Negotiate the fare with the driver before starting your journey. The ride to Wilpattu National Park will take around 1.5 hours depending on traffic. The tuk-tuk will take you directly to the entrance of the park, where you can purchase your tickets and start your adventure.

    First, take a train from Anuradhapura Railway Station to the nearest railway station to Wilpattu, which is in the vicinity of Puttalam.
