Car
If you're driving from Badulla, head south on the A5 highway towards Haputale. Continue for about 23 km until you reach the town of Haputale. Once in Haputale, follow the signs for Lipton's Seat. You'll take a left onto Lipton Seat Road (also known as Dambethenna Estate Road). Continue for about 7 km, navigating the winding road up the hill until you reach the parking area at Lipton's Seat. Note that the road can be steep and narrow in some sections, so drive carefully.
Public Transportation
To reach Lipton's Seat via public transport, start by taking a bus from Badulla to Haputale. Buses run frequently and the journey takes approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive in Haputale, you can take a tuk-tuk to Lipton's Seat, which is about 7 km away from the town center. Be sure to negotiate the fare before starting your ride; it typically costs around 500 to 1000 LKR depending on the time of day and your negotiation skills. The tuk-tuk will take you directly to the entrance of Lipton's Seat.
Hiking
For the adventurous, you can hike to Lipton's Seat from Haputale. After taking a bus to Haputale, head towards the Lipton's Seat Trailhead located near the town. The hike is approximately 7 km and offers stunning views along the way. It takes about 2 to 3 hours to reach the top depending on your fitness level. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water. There are also local guides available for hire in Haputale who can assist you on this hiking journey.
