Car
If you are driving from Badulla town, head towards the A5 road. Follow the signs to the town of Hali-Ela. Once you reach Hali-Ela, take a left turn onto the B39 road towards Wangedigala. The road will eventually lead you through scenic landscapes. Continue for approximately 12 kilometers until you see signs for Wangedigala. Be prepared for narrow and winding roads, and keep an eye out for local traffic and pedestrians.
Public Transportation
To reach Wangedigala using public transport, start by taking a bus from Badulla to Hali-Ela. Buses frequently depart from the main bus station in Badulla, and the fare is usually around 50 LKR. Once you arrive in Hali-Ela, you will need to catch a local tuk-tuk or a three-wheeler to Wangedigala. The fare for a tuk-tuk ride should be negotiated, but expect to pay around 300-400 LKR for the journey to the base of Wangedigala. Remember to confirm with the driver that they can take you to your destination.
Hiking
If you prefer an adventurous approach, you can hike to Wangedigala from the nearest access point, which is approximately 2 kilometers from the closest bus stop. This hike is suitable for those who enjoy nature and scenic views, but be prepared for a steep climb. It is recommended to wear good hiking shoes and carry water and snacks. The trail is marked, but it's advisable to go with a local guide if you're unfamiliar with the area.
