If you are traveling by car, start from Kandy, the capital of Central Province. Head south on the A1 road towards Colombo. After approximately 20 km, take the exit towards Mawanella and continue on the A5 road for about 12 km. Look for the signs directing you to Aluviharaya Rock Cave Temple. The temple is located at FJXC+3PV, Thotagamuwa. There is limited parking available near the temple, so plan accordingly.

From Kandy, you can take a bus to Mawanella. Buses leave regularly from the Kandy bus station and the fare is approximately LKR 100. Once in Mawanella, you will need to find a local bus or tuk-tuk to Thotagamuwa. The local fare should be around LKR 50-100. Make sure to inform the driver to drop you at Aluviharaya Rock Cave Temple. The temple is a short walk from the drop-off point.
