Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Nuwara Eliya town center. Head east on the A5 road for about 6 km. Look for signs that indicate the direction towards Kolapathana Waterfall. You will reach a small access road on your left, which leads to the waterfall. Make sure your vehicle is suitable for off-road conditions as the final stretch may be rough.
Public Transportation
To reach Kolapathana Waterfall using public transportation, take a bus from Nuwara Eliya to the nearest bus stop on the A5 road. The fare is usually around LKR 50-100. Once you reach the bus stop, you will need to hike approximately 2 km on foot to reach the waterfall, following the small access road that branches off from the main road.
Hiking
If you are feeling adventurous, after taking a bus to the nearest stop on the A5 road, you can hike the remaining distance to Kolapathana Waterfall. The trail may not be well-marked, so be sure to have a map or GPS on your phone. Follow the sound of the water; it should lead you to the waterfall in about 30-45 minutes depending on your pace.
