Car
If you're driving from Batticaloa, head west on the A4 road towards Polonnaruwa. After about 80 kilometers, take the A11 road heading south towards Monaragala. Continue on the A11 for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach Monaragala. Once in Monaragala, follow local signs to W98P+FPR, which should be a short drive from the town center. Parking may be available nearby.
Public Transportation
To reach Ancient Ponds using public transport, start by taking a bus from Batticaloa to Monaragala. Buses frequently depart from the Batticaloa bus station. The journey typically takes about 2-3 hours depending on traffic. Once in Monaragala, you can hire a tuk-tuk or a local taxi to take you to W98P+FPR. The tuk-tuk fare should be around 300-500 LKR depending on your bargaining skills.
Tuk-Tuk
If you are already in Monaragala and need to reach the Ancient Ponds, hiring a tuk-tuk is a convenient option. Simply ask a local for a tuk-tuk to W98P+FPR. The ride should not take more than 10-15 minutes and typically costs around 200-300 LKR.
